High school juniors and seniors from the counties of Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Gilmer, Lewis, Marshall, Pleasants, Tyler and Upshur completed a 20-week virtual program where they had the opportunity to learn about a variety of health careers sponsored by the Northern WV Rural Health Education Center.
Students were selected to participate based on their grades, school attendance, and interest in a health career. The students completed a series of assignments in a virtual platform to learn detailed information including the education and training needed for various health careers such as pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, radiology, etc.
The students also completed lessons to learn more about rural health, public health, and primary care as well as information on scholarships and financial resources, resume development, and making a postsecondary education plan.
Minnie Hamilton Health System was a partner in the project and recorded video demonstrations of select departments for the students. Students had the opportunity to view virtual presentations from health professionals working in the field. Upon successful completion of the program, students received a stipend.

Barbour County: Autumn Hutzell, Caleb Kittle and Kara Phillips;
Upshur County: Caden Andrick, Donovan Cutlip, Makenzi Cutright and Ty Landis;
Braxton County: Lauren Keplinger and Kylie Olszewski;
Calhoun County: Tavia Fowler, Makayla Jones, Alexandrya Lipscomb, Kaylin Parsons and Marissa Taylor;
Gilmer County: Eve Mohr; Lewis County: Kyra Cook and Claire Lattea;
Marshall County: Reagan Gray and Chloe Sayman;
Pleasants County: Erica Davis, Millicent Kehrer, Katie Lemon, Josey Moore and Elyssa West;
Tyler County: Imagen Anderson and Abi Thompson.
