MADISON (WXOW) -- In its Sunday update, the Wisconsin Department of Health said in the past day, another 25,000 Wisconsin residents have received their first shot in the COVID-19 vaccine.
The figures show that 1,699,837 people in the state have received at least one dose of the vaccine. That translates to 29.2 percent of state residents according to DHS. 995,419 people, or 17.1 percent of the state's population, have finished the vaccine series.
In Western Wisconsin to date, 85,003 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. It equates to 31 percent of the total number of people in Western Wisconsin. 53,208, or 19.4 percent, have completed the vaccine series.
The DHS figures show that 39,598 people or 33.6 percent of residents of La Crosse County have had at least one dose of the vaccine. 24,454 people in La Crosse County or 20.7 percent completed the vaccine series according to the state.
In other counties, these are the percentages for the population receiving the first dose of a COVID vaccine: Monroe: 25.1 percent, Vernon: 29.8 percent, Trempealeau: 32.8 percent, and Jackson: 28.3 percent.

According to numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Sunday, there were no new deaths from the virus.
The total number of deaths in the state from the virus is 6,598.

DHS also reported 30 people were newly hospitalized.
As of Friday, 226 COVID-19 patients were being treated in Wisconsin hospitals.
Of those, 57 people are in the ICU according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association.
There have been 428 positive COVID-19 tests since yesterday in Wisconsin and 3,492 negative results.

Of all positive cases reported since the pandemic began, 562,308, or 97.7 percent, are considered recovered.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said that four people are hospitalized in the Western Region of the state, which is comprised of Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon, and Crawford counties. None of the patients are currently in intensive care.
