How It Happened
Set One:
A kill by LCU's Kalli Dalland cut LCU's deficit to 10-9 in the opening set, but the Belles went on a 9-1 run for a 19-10 lead. The Belles maintained their distance and used a .556 hitting percentage to win the set 25-19. ASU had five players with at least two kills in the set, led by Elsa Lamphere, who had five kills. Lyons led LCU with four kills.
Set Two:
The second set had a similar storyline than the first set. LCU trailed 15-14 after six ties through the set, before ASU garnered separation. A 4-1 Belles run put them up 19-15 before LCU got within two points (21-19). ASU then received a pair of kills from Gilbreath to complete a 4-0 run to give ASU a 25-19 set win. The Belles had a 19-5 advantage in kills in the set, with Gordon leading the team with four in the set.
Set Three:
A trio of early errors led ASU to open the set with an 8-3 lead. Sage Post had a kill to start a 3-0 LCU run to cut the Belles lead to 8-6. ASU used a 4-1 run and built their lead to 15-10, which was big enough from LCU to bounce back against, as ASU won the set 25-19. Gordon (5) and Gilbreath (4) combined for nine kills in the set for ASU. Lyons led LCU with four kills in the set.
