The gunman opened fire during a sweltering campaign rally in Pennsylvania and was killed by Secret Service agents, officials said. One spectator was killed and two others were "critically injured," the Secret Service said.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear," Trump said on Truth Social, adding that he "immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin."

“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” Trump said in a statement on Truth Social.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement earlier Saturday. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”Joey Garrison, David Jackson and Dan Morrison contributed to the reporting of this story.
