The 2020 season marked the fall of the New England Patriots and the rise of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East. Buffalo won its first division title since 1995. The Bills hit a slump after kicking off the year as one of the most dominant teams in the NFL but rebounded to finish the regular season right where they started.
The Bills made a big move by trading for Stefon Diggs following the 2019 season and reaped the benefits of their star wideout thanks to Josh Allen’s transformation into an elite quarterback. Diggs led the league in receiving yards in his first season with Buffalo and Allen’s improved skill set helped him throw for a career-high 37 touchdowns after totaling just 30 in his first two pro seasons. He also ran for eight scores. Buffalo is an offensive juggernaut but its defense could use some work. Buffalo has an experienced secondary but could shore up its pass rush and run defense by targeting interior defensive linemen late in the first round.
2021 opponents
The Buffalo Bills will face their AFC East divisional opponents six times, half at home and half on the road. In addition, they draw matchups against all for teams from the AFC South and NFC South. The NFL is expected to add a 17th game to the regular season schedule that will feature an inter-conference matchup with a similarly placed team. The Bills would face the NFC East.
