On Saturday, the 2021/22 Barcelona Femeni squad have the chance to secure their place as one of the greatest teams in women's football history if they can retain their Champions League crown against Lyon.

The Spanish outfit, managed by Jonatan Giraldez, head into the showdown with the French league leaders after completing a perfect league season, winning all 30 of their matches this campaign.

Remarkably, they have won 43 of their 44 matches across all competitions, only falling to Wolfsburg in the UEFA Women's Champions League semifinal second leg 2-0 — and that was only after they had won the first leg 5-1.

Ahead of this weekend's final, we take a look at their spectacular form this season, assessing which records they have broken along the way and try to gauge if more success is on the cards in Turin for one of the modern game's most dominant teams.

What records have Barcelona women broken this season?

Primera Division Femenina table 2021/22

Position Team GP W D L GF GA GD Points
1 Barcelona 30 30 0 0 159 11 +148
2 Real Sociedad 30 21 3 6 67 38 +29
3 Real Madrid 30 19 3 8 41 31 +10
4 Atletico Madrid 30 17 8 5 71 28 +43
5 Granadilla Tenerife 30 16 6 8 42 44 -2

Barcelona have shone on all stages this season with their ability to score at will yet defend fiercely.

For the first time this century in the women's top flight in Spain, a side has won all of their matches in a league season, with Barcelona winning 30 from 30. They also came close to completing that feat the season prior, losing just once in 2020/21, with the side from Catalonia now making it back-to-back league titles for the third time since 2011.

In 2021/22, Barcelona scored a quite staggering 159 goals in their 30 league matches, conceding just 11. That's an average of 5.3 goals scored per game.

This season's league win in turn pushes them to seven titles overall and further clear of Athletic Bilbao who sit in second spot in the all-time reckoning with five.

Barcelona also remain completely dominant in the UEFA Women's Champions League this season, losing just one of their 10 matches across the competition.

Heading into the final in Turin on Saturday, the Spanish champions almost boast competition-high figures across the board in both the attacking and defending categories.

Alongside holding the lead in most goals scored (37) and fewest goals conceded (7) this season in the competition, Barcelona have emphasised their dominance by holding the highest average possession per game (66.3 percent) of any side, whilst they've also attempted the most shots (284) and shots on target (114).

As a result of that fine form, Barcelona now look set to become just the fourth back-to-back European champions in the history of the women's game as they enter this weekend's showpiece final as heavy favourites.

How many goals have Barcelona women scored this season?

The main feature of Barcelona's 2021/22 season has been their unstoppable goalscoring across all competitions.

Notching a barely believable 159 goals in the league this campaign, the Spanish champions finished the season with a goal difference of +148, the second-best ever seen in the modern competition after their own exploits the season before.

They have also netted three or more times in 27 of their league matches this term, running up a plethora of mighty scorelines along the way, the biggest of which saw them run out as 10-1 victors away from home against Sevilla.

It's been much of the same in the UWCL where they scored 24 times across six group-stage matches, only conceding once in return. With 8-3 and 5-3 aggregate wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals after that, the Spanish champions seem primed to defend their European crown this time around.

Have Barcelona women won the quadruple before?

On top of Barcelona's perfect record in league football this season, their 7-0 thrashing of Atletico Madrid at the start of the campaign also saw them claim the Supercopa de Espana Femenina title.

With that trophy, they became the first Spanish women's side to complete the quadruple, consisting of the league title, national cup, Women's Champions League and the Supercopa.

With a Copa de la Reina semifinal versus foes Real Madrid on the horizon in midweek, a victory in Turin against Lyon on Saturday could set them on their way to claiming all four of those trophies again.

Do Barcelona hold the record attendance for a women’s match?

Since 1999, a match held between the US Women's National Team and China held the record attendance for a women's match when 90,185 spectators turned up at the Rose Bowl in California.

A number of other matches have come close over the years since but Barcelona finally smashed that record when 91,553 fans attended Camp Nou to watch them defeat fierce rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League.

For the club's 5-1 UWCL semifinal first-leg victory over Wolfsburg, history was made again: with 91,648 supporters in the ground, that match now holds the world record for the largest crowd ever at a women's football match.
