NORMAN — No. 1 Oklahoma completed the series sweep over Iowa State on Saturday, beating the Cyclones 9-0 in five innings for its 34th victory by run-rule on the season.
OU (42-1, 11-1 Big 12) secured its third conference series win and second sweep of Big 12 competition.
Freshman Jordy Bahl was exceptional in the circle, throwing a perfect game through four innings before surrendering a walk and hit to ISU (21-24, 2-10 Big 12) in the final inning of the mercy rule. The frosh finished with a line of no runs, one hit, one walk and six strikeouts. It was Bahl's sixth individual shutout of the season and 19th win of the year in the circle.
The Sooner offense put up nine runs on nine hits, highlighted by super senior Jocelyn Alo's 110th career home run and 22nd of the season.
OU scored in each of its four innings at the plate, beginning with a two-RBI single by Jana Johns in the first. In the second inning, a fielder's choice RBI by Kinzie Hansen plated Alyssa Brito.
Redshirt senior Taylon Snow continued her hot streak at the plate with an RBI single in the bottom of the third.
The Sooners put up a five spot in the fourth inning to bring the game to run-rule territory. Sophomore Jayda Coleman started the scoring with an RBI double to plate Rylie Boone before Alo blasted her 22nd home run of the season. It was OU's lone homer of the game but brought the season total to 114. OU has homered in 37 of its 43 games.
A two-RBI single from Lynnsie Elam closed the Sooners scoring in the fourth.
Senior Grace Lyons led OU at the plate with a 2-for-3, two runs scored performance while eight Sooners registered a hit and six brought in a run. Alo, Johns and Elam each brought in a pair.
Oklahoma returns to the road next week with a Thursday contest at Kansas City on April 28 at 6 p.m. CT before a three-game conference series at Kansas, April 29-May 1.
