EAST LANSING – With the Big Ten announcing the 2021-22 conference schedule today (Aug. 30), the Michigan State hockey schedule for the upcoming season is now complete. The 34-game slate includes 24 conference games with the Spartans playing their first Big Ten contests of the season Oct. 29-30 at Ohio State.

After an exhibition game in Plymouth against the USNTDP U-18 Team on Oct. 2, the Spartans begin the regular season with three straight non-conference series. MSU will host Air Force (Oct. 8-9) and Miami (Oct. 15-16) on consecutive weekends at Munn Ice Arena, before traveling UMass Lowell (Oct. 22-23).
 
Following the Spartans' Big Ten opening weekend at Ohio State, Oct. 29-30, MSU will meet Michigan, Nov. 5-6. Locations for all four Michigan State-Michigan games will be announced in the near future.
 
MSU takes a break from Big Ten play to take on Ferris State, meeting on the Bulldogs in East Lansing on Thursday, Nov. 11, then two days later on Nov. 13 in Big Rapids. MSU's final series of the month will be at Munn the following weekend as it will host Wisconsin, Nov. 19-20.
 
Michigan State will play two Big Ten sets on the road in December, starting at Penn State, Dec. 3-4, then at Notre Dame, Dec. 10-11.
 
Following winter break, MSU will host Western Michigan and Michigan Tech, Dec. 29-30, respectively, at Munn for the Great Lakes Invitational Showcase.
 
The Spartans will play six games in the month of January, beginning with a home set against Minnesota (Jan. 7-8). After a trip to Wisconsin (Jan. 14-15), the Spartans are back at Munn to host Ohio State (Jan. 21-22).
 
The final month of the regular season begins with a return trip to Minnesota (Feb. 4-5). The Spartans and Wolverines will complete their season set, Feb. 11-12.
 
MSU closes out the regular season with four straight games at home. MSU hosts Notre Dame, Feb. 18-19, then Penn State, Feb. 25-26.
 
The 2022 Big Ten Tournament reverts to the format last used in the 2019-20 season with the quarterfinals being a best-of-three series, March 4-6, and the regular season champion getting a bye to the semifinals. The semifinals, March 12, will be single elimination and the championship game will take place March 19.
 
Game times and TV designations will be announced closer to the start of the season.
