It’ll be a Yu Darvish-Kyle Hendricks rematch today in the Cubs’ intrasquad game – those two are gonna be bitter rivals by Opening Day – but don’t expect to see Anthony Rizzo back out there.
The Cubs’ first baseman is still day-to-day, according to David Ross, and it’s not likely he does much today.
David Ross said Anthony Rizzo (lower back tightness) is still day-to-day but "moving in the right direction."
"I doubt he’ll do much today unless he comes in and feels really good," Ross said.

Like we’ve said for years when it comes to Rizzo’s back (or anyone else’s really), if you’re feeling that tightness, it’s worth taking an extra day or two if it’s feeling close to a tweak. The difference between sitting out a bit and then being OK, versus pushing and then actually causing an injury could be a matter of weeks or months. The rest right now is just fine.
That said, you would like Rizzo to get plenty of reps against live pitching before Opening Day, so hopefully he’s feeling out of the woods within a few days.
