The concept is where runners pick a hill, go up and down that same hill enough times to accumulate the climb of Mount Everest which is 29,029 feet.

The trio is started at 8 PM Friday night at the chalet at the bottom of Spirit Mountain. Around 8:40 PM on Saturday, Jacobson and Calaguire crossed the finish line, joining the small group of 170 runners to complete the challenge.

"Brutal. It was hot. It was miserable. There wasn't anything fun about it," said Calaguire post-race. "I've ran a 100-miler and this didn't even compare to that. This was way more difficult."

"Around Late morning, starting around noon, I mean it was 85 [degrees]. No cloud cover at all. It was pretty miserable," added Jacobson.

The duo ran up and down the hill 64 times. Johnson had to tap out after 10 due to soreness in his quads.

At the end of the day, the duo said they would never run this challenge again.

"It's pretty cool. It's something I think you look back at later and you're kind of proud of it, but I'm not quite there yet," Jacobson laughed.

Johnson said he plans to try the challenge again, but will look to avoid the summer heat. He mentioned maybe trying to run it again in September.

Along with completing the challenge, their goal is to raise $2,500 for the Superior Hiking Trail. Visit Everesting for the Superior Hiking Trail Association to donate.
