More than 200 years ago, Baltimore was assaulted by a force bound to break its spirit. The “dawn’s early light” revealed that threat had failed. In the darkness of last Tuesday morning, another “force,” threatening in its own way, again tested the grit of this resilient city and, again, despite the strife and despair, the dawn brought with it hope (“‘The Key Bridge is us’: For those who grew up in its shadow, bridge was a lifetime connection,” March 29).
Our flag, metaphorically speaking, “is still there.”
