Construction is complete on a $120 million data center in Auburn.
Brasfield & Gorrie, the project’s general contractor, announced work is finished on the one-story, 40,000-square-foot AUBix greenfield data center, situated on a six-acre site on Samford Avenue just off the Auburn University campus.
The center was announced last August, aimed at providing better high speed Internet access to businesses and individuals. Officials last year said the center can have implications for research and academic initiatives, as well as economic development.
AUBix CEO and co-founder Andrew Albrecht said the project finished on time and in budget.
“From providing input on the initial design through the final finishing details, the Brasfield & Gorrie team was helpful, professional and a true pleasure to work with,” Albrecht said.
The facility includes two 10,000-square-foot data halls, which will support up to two megawatts of IT load each. The building’s structure and veneer are precast concrete, designed to withstand Category 4 winds of up to 150 m.p.h.
