RICHMOND, Ky. –

EKU completed the series sweep of Bowling Green by winning both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday at Earle Combs Stadium.  The Colonels won the first game 12-3 and took the second 3-0.
 
Eastern Kentucky will host in-state rival Western Kentucky on Tuesday.  First pitch at Earle Combs Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m.  Tuesday is Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day.  EKU faculty and staff can receive two free tickets.  There will also be a student tailgate starting one hour before the game with FREE food.

In game one, the Colonels turned a 2-0 lead into an 8-0 advantage with a six-run fourth inning.  After a sacrifice fly from Max Williams pushed in the first run, Kendal Ewell followed with a 3-run home run over the wall in right field.  Two batters later, with Logan Thomason on first, Will King sent a shot over the wall in left center to cap the big inning.
 
It was the second home run of the season for Ewell and the first for King.  Charlie Ludwick hit his second dinger of the season in the second inning to get the Colonels on the board.
 
Rese Brown (1-1) stymied the Falcons for six innings.  He allowed four hits, two walks, one run and struck out a career-best 13.  His 13 strikeouts tied three others for the most by a Colonel in a single game since 2008.
 
King hit a second home run in the seventh, a 3-run shot over the wall in right center, as part of a 4-run inning.  The sophomore catcher finished 2-for-5 with two runs and five RBIs.
 
Ewell had a 2-for-4 game with a run and four driven in.  Ludwick went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Conner Davis walked three times and scored twice.
 
Anthony Toma had a 2-run, pinch hit home run for the Falcons in the ninth.
 
In game two, Ludwick led off the bottom of the second with his second home run of the day, and third of the season.  Max Williams made it 2-0 with a two-out RBI single to center field in the bottom of the sixth.  Ludwick capped the scoring for the Colonels (7-5) with a run scoring triple in the seventh.
 
Rian Yates started on the mound for EKU.  He allowed four hits and walked two over four scoreless innings.  The sophomore struck out four.  Cameron Kalandros (2-1) earned the win after pitching one and two-thirds innings of relief.  He did not allow a hit or a walk.
 
Ludwick went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and two RBIs in game two.  Williams finished 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.  Davis had two hits and scored a run.
 
Kyle Gurney had three hits for Bowling Green (2-7).
