LYNCHBURG, Va. – Five members of the East Carolina women's swimming and diving team set personal-best times/scores Saturday during the second day of the TYR '85 Invite, which is being hosted by Liberty.
"Another good day for the Pirates," head coach Matt Jabs said. "We had a lot of season bests and improvements in the finals. Tomorrow is the last day and we plane to finish strong."
Junior Polina Rukosuev took third in the 200 free with a personal-best time of 1:51.00, while fellow upperclassmen senior Mia Cote finished sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 56.59 but set a personal-best time of 56.72 during the prelims. In the same event, freshman Ava Iannetta placed 18th with a career time of 59.19 during the finals. Senior Kat White posted a career scored of 221.70 in the 1-meter dive finishing in 10th.
Junior Caitlin Reynera claimed second in the 100 breaststroke finishing with a time of 1:02.52, which was a season-best mark. Sophomore Flanary Patterson finished fifth in the 1-meter dive with a season-best score of 237.05.
ECU will wrap up its fall season on Sunday inside the Liberty Natatorium with prelims in five events (200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 1650 free) beginning at 10 a.m. Finals in six events will get underway at 5 p.m.
