High Point finishes the fall portion of their season when they head to the mountains of North Carolina to compete in the 2021 French Broad Invitational in Asheville, NC. The tournament is hosted by fellow Big South conference foe UNC-Asheville and will take place on November 8-10.
The Field
High Point is joined by fellow Big South opponents Longwood, USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb, Radford, and host UNC-Asheville. The remainder of the field includes Western Carolina, Lipscomb, Eastern Kentucky, Wofford, Belmont, Appalachian State, and Northern Kentucky.

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove
The Cliffs at Walnut Cove is a par-71 course designed by the Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus. The course will play at 5,947 yards for the tournament and is in impeccable condition. The front nine meanders through fields that were once farmland and the back nine heads through the woods, both having several water hazards to navigate. The par-5 12th hole has a creek that cuts across the fairway that will affect approach shots for those going for the green in two. The most difficult hole on the course is the par-4 7th hole, whose green is protected by the largest water hazard on the property, which brings a lot of scores over par into play.
Format and Schedule
The French Broad Invitational is a three-day tournament with 18 holes played on each day of play. Play begins Monday (November 8) with 10am tee-times on holes 1 and 10. Play on Tuesday (Nov. 9) and Wednesday (Nov. 10) will follow the same format as Monday.
Last Time Out
High Point competed in the Grandover Fall Classic in Greensboro, NC and finished in eighth place. Falkman Lehes was the low individual for the Panthers as she finished with in a tie for tenth, a performance which collected her Big South Freshman of the Week honors.
UP NEXT
High Point will be off for the remainder of the fall semester. High Point will begin its spring season with a two-day tournament down in Jacksonville, FL on February 14-15. The women will compete at the First Coast Classic at Deerwood Country Club.
