A message to students:
As you may have noticed, the number of positive COVID-19 cases among students since the beginning of the semester has been relatively low compared to some of our peer institutions, and these low numbers are attributable to high levels of adherence to the current COVID protocols, as well as having a student body that is 99% vaccinated.
However, we are still seeing some cases emerge each week among students—regardless of their vaccination status—so we want to be sure we are doing everything possible to prevent a small number of cases from becoming an outbreak.
Therefore, I’d like to remind you that completing Dr. Chat Bot daily when on campus is a requirement, and it truly helps to protect your classmates, teammates, professors—everyone in the University community—from getting COVID-19.
It is especially necessary to complete Dr. Chat Bot when:
- You need to report to UHS symptoms that could be due to COVID-19, in order to be evaluated. Using Dr. Chat Bot to connect with UHS when you are experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms is the most effective way to alert us that you may need to be tested. UHS nurses view the Dr. Chat Bot reports every day and will reach out by phone to anyone who is experiencing symptoms. For students, this process is much more efficient than calling the UHS office phone number.
- You have traveled outside of the U.S., or you believe you have had exposure to a COVID-19 case. Even without any active symptoms, you absolutely need to complete Dr. Chat Bot if either of these situations has occurred.
Dr. Chat Bot takes less than a minute to complete and truly does help to keep our University community safe from the spread of COVID-19 infections. Thank you for everything you are doing to maintain a healthy campus environment this semester.
