Summer Reading is winding down at Minerva Public Library, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had.

Youth Services staff are excited to offer Learning Lunchboxes from the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) beginning Monday. These science-themed boxes are packed with hands-on educational fun for families with kindergarteners through 8th graders. Learning Lunchboxes can be picked up at the Youth Desk, or at the library table at Minerva’s Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 7. First come, first served; while supplies last.

Check out the library’s self-directed Storybook Walk. This blend of mental and physical exercise is a great way to build early literacy skills. Starting at the Minerva Elementary School preschool playground gate, walk from one sign to the next to read the story. With a new picture book up each month, there’s endless educational fun to be had. This month’s book is “Over On a Desert” by Marianne Berkes. The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Another reason to visit the library: to admire its Mini Canvas Art Show, starring paintings by library patrons. Mini paintings can be found in the entrance display case and around the Youth Department.

The Minerva Public Library is located at 677 Lynnwood Drive, one block from US Route 30. For information about library services and programs call 330-868-4101. Visit the library online at www.minervalibrary.info, and follow the library on Facebook and Instagram.
