YOKOHAMA, Japan – More Gators joined in Olympic competition as Gators from the men's and women's swimming and diving programs competed along with more action from soccer and softball today.

Men's & Women's Swimming

PRELIMS

Softball (USA)
Team USA secured silver medals after it fell, 2-0, to Japan in the gold medal game Tuesday at Yokohama Baseball Stadium.

Michelle Moultrie, Aubree Munro and Kelsey Stewart all received starts and are the first Gators in program history to not only compete at the Olympics, but also the first to earn Olympic medals.

Japan jumped onto the scoreboard in the 4th inning with a bases loaded RBI single to second base and followed up with a second run in the fifth to extend their lead out to 2-0.

With runners on first and second, the Red, White & Blue were poised to rally in the 6th inning, but a wild deflection off the wrist of Japan's third baseman was reeled in by the shortstop and resulted in an inning-inning double play.

Soccer (Canada)
In the closing match of Group E play, Canada and Great Britain tied 1-all. Two Gators – Adriana Leon and Deanne Rose – both started the match, with Leon playing the entirety and scoring Canada's goal.

Leon gave Canada the lead in the 55th minute off the assist from Ashley Lawrence. It was Canada's only shot on goal of the match.

The match was tied in the 85th minute when Caroline Weir's 22-yard shot deflected off Canada's Nicelle Prince, scoring at the far post.

Canada will face Brazil to kick off Olympic quarterfinal play July 30 at 4 a.m. ET. Stream
