Local State Representative Marci Mustello says that the state’s new unemployment system could still be upgraded.

She spoke to our newsroom and said she’s still hearing from people who are having trouble navigating the system.

“We’re still getting calls in our office, and I encourage anyone who is having trouble to give us a call because the system is not, in my opinion, working up to the capability and where it should be,” Mustello said.

The system went live in early June after spending more than a year on the new update.

State officials in the labor department have also noted that the system has struggled in a variety of areas, and they hope to have the necessary fixes soon.
