GREENVILLE, N.C. – Nearly 100 current and former East Carolina University student-athletes are set to receive their degrees as part of the institution's spring commencement on Friday, May 7, recognizing both spring and summer graduates completing bachelor's and master's degree requirements. 
 

The 2021 commencement ceremony marks the return of an in-person celebration in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium after a year of change from the coronavirus pandemic. ECU will celebrate the Class of 2021 with three separate commencement ceremonies at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., accommodate graduates and their families. Each ceremony will be posted on the university's official commencement website.
 

Fifteen ECU programs will be represented at spring graduation with the football program having 18 student-athletes on the intent to graduate list and the lacrosse program having 14. Bachelor degrees were awarded in more than 30 fields of study, while seven student-athletes completed master's degrees. Ten former student-athletes returned to school to complete their degrees during the 2020-21 academic year.
 

University of North Carolina System President Peter Hans will deliver the keynote address for more than 4,000 spring graduates and their families, friends and supporters.
