Cailie Logue of Iowa State repeated as champion in the women’s 10,000 meters with her time of 34:07.94. The men’s 10,000-meter was delayed due to weather in the area, but resumed later Friday evening. The Cyclones racked up the first four finishes, as Wesley Kiptoo ran a Championship record 28:22.98.
Lauren Jones became the first Oklahoma women’s student-athlete to win the hammer throw with her personal record of 66.20 meters (217-2). Kansas senior Gleb Dudarev hit the nation’s second-best mark this season with his toss of 74.61 meters (244’ 9.00”) in the hammer. Dudarev is the first four-time champion in the hammer after winning the event previously in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Junior Kelsey Kehl clinched gold in her debut season with the Cowgirls after hurling the javelin 50.03 meters (164-1) to win the event and secure 10 points for OSU. In the men’s javelin, K-State senior Logan Wolfley placed first with a collegiate-best mark of 73.08 meters (239’ 9.00”).
In the first day of the men’s decathlon, the opening five events were taken by either Texas freshman Leo Neugebauer or Oklahoma sophomore Kristo Simulask. Neugebauer, who entered this weekend’s meet at No. 10 on the national performance list, has accrued 4,139 points after winning the long jump (7.43m/24-4.50), shot put (14.53m/47-8.00), and 400 meters (50.45 seconds). Simulask ranked 35th nationally in the decathlon and collected wins in the 100 meters (10.76 seconds) and high jump (2.02m/6-7.50) to accumulate 3,958 for second. The final five events (110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500-meters) will take place Saturday.
K-State’s Lauren Taubert maintains a first-place lead after four events and 3,487 points in the heptathlon. She won the 200-meters with a dash of 23.99 seconds and placed in the top-five in the 100-meter hurdles (13.54) and high jump (1.69m/5-6.50). Taubert entered the weekend with the No. 4 overall spot in the heptathlon.
The 110-meter hurdles in the men’s decathlon opens combined events on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT. Field events are slated for a 2 p.m. CT start followed by preliminary running events at 3 p.m. CT.

Single-day tickets for the Championship are $10 for adults and $5 for youth, senior citizen and K-State students. They are on sale at www.kstatesports.com/buytickets. Fans will be issued a digital ticket (print at home or mobile) and they can scan in and out throughout the day using their mobile ticket.
Tickets will be also available for purchase on a walk up basis on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT then on Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. CT.
General public seating at R.V. Christian Track and Field Complex for the Championships will be limited to the west grandstand as well as in the south end of the facility via standing room only. Fans will be required to wear a face mask over their mouth and nose at all times in the facility.
