LAFC have permanently acquired center back Jesus David Murillo from Deportivo Independiente Medellin, sources told MLSsoccer.com. Murillo was on loan with LAFC in 2020.

Murillo, 26, immediately broke into LAFC’s starting XI after arriving in mid-October. He started each of the club’s final five regular-season MLS matches as well as their playoff loss to the Seattle Sounders and run to the Concacaf Champions League final.

He made 108 total appearances with Independiente Medellin over three years. Prior to joining LAFC, Murillo had spent his entire pro career in his native Colombia, including spells with Deportivo Pasto and Patriotas Bocaya.

Murillo is LAFC’s third Colombian player on the roster, alongside Eddie Segura and Eduard Atuesta.

LAFC’s offseason is well underway, acquiring Corey Baird in a trade with Real Salt Lake and South Korean international right back Kim Hwan-Moon. They also added left back Marco Farfan from the Portland Timbers last month as well as drafting Daniel Trejo in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.
