Impatient drivers get stuck in partially complete Midtown roundabout - Reno Gazette Journal

Crews are rushing to complete the reconstruction of South Virginia Street through Midtown while businesses are mostly closed for the coronavirus pandemic. But apparently some drivers are still a little impatient with the progress.

Two drivers last week tried to cut through a partially completed roundabout at South Virginia and Mary streets but became bogged down in the thick sand. The Reno Fire Department was called to help dig them out.

"Apparently there are some excited people trying the new roundabout on South Virginia and Mary Street, but unfortunately the roundabout is not complete and still under construction," Reno firefighters tweeted. "Twice this week cars have taken a shortcut and found themselves stuck."

Photos from the tweet show two cars at different times stuck in roughly the same location in the torn up road. Orange cones and construction tape are seen in the photos.

"Please stay out," the firefighters begged.
