The Thielsen Fire burning near Diamond Lake remains 26 percent contained with the acreage burned still listed as 9,916 acres.
The latest update from the U.S. Forest Service said progress continued around the fire on Tuesday, with crews continuing to take advantage of overnight humidity recoveries. Work continues to construct and secure fire lines along the southern and western edges of the fire. Firefighters worked to secure the area around the Cinnamon Butte Tower and communications site, with a sprinkler system.
Crews are still working to protect critical infrastructure and secure and hold the fire’s southern edge near the northern boundary of Diamond Lake. Other work continues much the same as previous days.
441 people are working on the fire.
