Nearly 47,000 Iowans are still without power Tuesday, more than a week after a devastating derecho hit the state.

Hard-hit Cedar Rapids still has the most residents and businesses in the dark, with 26,344 power outages as of 8:30 a.m., according to a spreadsheet updated by the state.

Alliant Energy, which services Cedar Rapids and other areas statewide, has said it would have power "substantially" restored, or about 90%, to its customers by midnight Tuesday. It currently has 45,938 customers without power.

Terry Kouba, senior vice president of utility operations for Alliant Energy, said Monday that the company needs to replace 2,500 downed poles from the storm — the equivalent of eight months' work.

It has more than 2,000 linemen in Iowa working to restore power.

CenturyLink spokesperson Linda Johnson said the company is working to restore internet to Cedar Rapids, and as of Tuesday had 95% of customers back up and running. She did not provide specific numbers on outages, but said Cedar Rapids was the only area in the state affected by internet outages.

MidAmerican, which services Des Moines and other large cities such as Iowa City and Council Bluffs, reports just 11 customers without power.

Only four are in Des Moines, according to the state's data.

There are 50 cell tower sites still out from the storm, or about 2.4% of the state's cell sites.

Gov. Kim Reynolds has said restoring power to Iowans is the No. 1 priority in recovering from the derecho, which brought straight-line wind speeds of up to 110 mph to a wide swath of the state. The storm on Aug. 10 destroyed 10 million acres of crops, damaged trees, homes and businesses and left more than half a million people without power.
