Exterior work is getting closer to completion on the Virgin Hotel, a 476-foot-tall tower at 1225 Broadway in NoMad. Designed by Stantec and developed by Lam Group, the 38-story project will yield a total of 300,000 square feet with 460 hotel rooms. Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group will be in charge of managing the property, which will be the first Virgin Hotel in New York City.
Recent photos show the state of progress at the 1225 Broadway, which is located between West 29th Street and West 30th Street. The remainder of the glass curtain wall panels have been installed on the upper portion of the tower since our last visit in late May.

The last portion of the building awaiting completion is the podium, where the majority of the steel superstructure has been assembled. Installation has yet to commence on the walls of floor-to-ceiling glass that will hug the angled corners and long frontage facing Broadway. The main rendering shows these floors employing a mix of transparent glass, large advertisements plastered above the ground floor, and the Virgin logo on the northern end above the main entrance.

The podium will contain 90,000 square feet of retail space, while an underground 22,000-square-foot golf store called Swingers: A Crazy Golf Club will sit directly below grade. Also part of the design program is an outdoor swimming pool.
1225 Broadway will most likely finish and open sometime in 2021. An official revised completion date has not been announced.
