... moreNine days after Tropical Storm Isaias tore through Connecticut, more than 600 customers remain without power.
Just before 8 a.m. Thursday, Eversource reported 555 outages.
“Crews are embedded in the hardest-hit areas of the state and remain laser-focused on restoring single or scattered outages. These are more complex and take additional time to complete,” Eversource said.
The company said most of the power outages could be restored before midnight Thursday.
Communities with the highest number of outages include Greenwich (56), Wilton (50), Westport (32), Redding (18), Newtown (18), New Canaan (18), Oxford (17), Southbury (17), Norwalk (15) Stamford (14) and Danbury (8).
Meriden, which had not been among the hardest-hit municipalities, has 148 customers without power on Wednesday morning, according to Eversource.
The outages represent 0.05 percent of Eversource’s nearly 1.3 million customers.
Eversource said some of the more “complex outages” may require assistance from a private electrician or contractor.
“Line workers are going to each of these individual locations to assess what additional equipment or effort may be required to make repairs. Eversource customer care specialists are working with customers who are still without power, regularly providing updates on the restoration work connected to their outage,” Eversource said.
“Tropical Storm Isaias caused 25 percent more damage than Superstorm Sandy and Tropical Storm Irene, and the men and women working at Eversource restored power in 33 percent less time.”
United Illuminating reported Thursday morning that all its 337,528 customer have power.
